Our First Weekend

It has been a rainy weekend here in Bogota, but from what I hear, that´s better than what Michigan is having. Yesterday afternoon we were able to meet Piedad and her daughter, son-in-law and their little baby. Piedad´s sister teaches Spanish at Western, so her sister contacted her and she contacted us here which was so nice! We went to Piedad´s apartment and then walked to a market that had Colombian items. She was very kind and bought the girls several treats along the way like fresh squeezed orange juice and a small fruit that I have never seen before. It was white and creamy and very sweet inside. She also bought them some kind of sweet milk spread between two larger wafer cookies. It is just interesting to see all the different foods. We were all in the backseat of their car along with Piedad´s daughter Tatiana and her baby Nicholas. It was raining hard and since there were many in the car, we had the window open. With the close proximity to other cars, it didn´t take long before Judy and Joy who were sitting by the window were sprayed all over by a passing car. There were many laughs in that backseat.
At the market I made a purchase and asked for 16 bracelets. Judy made the lady count them 2 times and then take them out of the bag and count once more to make sure I had what I asked for. Piedad laughed and said she was a true Colombian- making sure she gets what she pays for.
They will fit into the Dutch culture as well if that is a Colombian trait. Thanks for the continued prayers! God has answered many already and His faithfulness is evident each day.

Glad to hear the weekend went well! I'll have to say that the last 2 days here have been beautiful. :) It is all perspective I guess. God is good!

Hi Jeralyn,

Thanks for writing and keeping us posted on things. It sounds like you guys had a fun weekend. I am praying that things will progress quickly now that the courts are back in session.

Jeralyn, Wally and Jenn had there baby today. They had a boy. They named him August Michael Laaksonen. He weighed 8lbs, 6oz. Everyone is doing well. They are going to call him Gus. I just thought you would like to know that.

I hope all is well and I am praying for you ladies. I can't wait to meet your family someday soon.

Dear Jeralyn and Family,
I think your adventure sounds exciting, but I am not sure about getting sprayed by rain, that may have been a little weird. We have had some nice weather today. I am glad you have met some nice people and the girls had a new experience.
I continue to pray for all of you. I pray your paperwork progresses quickly and that Thursday goes well.
Much Love Gail

Jeralyn, I'm so happy for you, the girls look so happy with their new Mom. May God continue to watch over you and hope the courts open today and the paper work goes through fast. My knee surgery went well and on crutches for a week. Thank you for keeping us posted. I'll keep you and the girls in my prayers. joyce

Jer,
When I saw these pictures, it all of a sudden hit me--you're a mom! I'm so excited!

So Judy and Angie like dresses? We are going to get along just fine. I think I'll go shopping for them tonight. Don't worry--I'll get them something trendy so they fit in with our small group. Do they like brown and orange like their mom, or should I stick with pink??? ha, ha.
